Disabled people are missing out on government support to help them into work and to progress in their careers, a group of MPs have said.

The Work and Pensions Select Committee said the Access to Work programme needed more funding and more people needed to know how the scheme can provide support to disabled employees.

Mark Harper, the minister for disabled people, acknowledged that the programme has not been meeting standards and will shortly set out plans to improve transparency and for officials to work more closely with disabled people to drive these improvements.

Access to Work is such an important programme in providing support for disabled people and Scope will be working with the DWP and others to make sure these improvements come about. You can read our response to the report here
http://www.scope.org.uk/Scope-responds-Access-Work-report . Without the scheme I would struggle to stay in work. In fact I think think it is so good I wrote a love letter to it which you can read here http://blog.scope.org.uk/2014/10/10/a-love-letter-to-acces s-to-work/
