If you haven’t already heard about our weekly Social Media Café, then I would just like to elaborate on the upcoming opportunity’s to get involved in this. Each Friday a themed Social Media Café will take place at our West End Centre specifying on the following every month:

Week 1: Employability, Volunteering &Training
Week 2: Health & Wellbeing
Week 3: Products and Services
Week 4: Get Yourself Active

A hot food provision is served every week by The Real Junk Food Project, serving over 100 hot meals to service users. We are offering spaces and stalls every week to organisations like yourself to engage with the people who attend weekly, which is growing and growing.


• On the 28th November we are hosting a Disability Policy Day @ Hansom Hall, Leicester!

You can attend this event for FREE & join John Coster of LCIL in association with Dr. E Anna Claydon, department of Media & Communication, University of Leicester in a number of debates & documentary film screenings.

10am Debate: Politics & documenting disability

11.30 - 12.30pm Documentary film screening with Q&A

12.30pm - 2.00pm Lunch break & opportunity to participate in an exhibition 'Disability and Identity through Photography' by Damla Mailer, DMU

2.30pm - 4.00pm Pecha Kucha presentations on disability issues

4.30pm - 5.30pm Documentary film screening with Q&A

6.00pm - 7.00pm Debate: Why do we need an International Day of Persons with Disabilities? Chaired by LCIL.


• This event will then lead into our #LCIL24 Hour Newsroom event @ West End Centre on Thursday 3rd December

This is alongside UN International Day of Person with Disabilities. We will host a newsroom for 24 hours, starting from 6pm Wednesday 2nd and finishing on 6pm Thursday 3rd, we will be reaching out and capturing the stories of positive role models and projects taking place around the world.

Our event aims to discover how others around the world are involved in the Social Model delivery of services for disabled people.

You can attend this event for FREE, or get involved in a number of opportunities available to organisations.
