Appealing PIP

I'm in the middle of appealing against  my PIP application and I must say what a carry on it is, I did not ask for a home visit but got one  so when I got all the paperwork back after my first reconsideration was declined and some of comment and recommendations the so called Health Practioner said were down right lies, she said I would benefit from using lightweight sauce pans and adaptable utensils. I have always stated that I can cook my husband does it all, it doesn't matter how light the pan is once it full of water and veg it's too heavy any way, they only scored me 2 points for needs help to prepare and cook a simple meal. I bloody sure they just put what ever they want and everything depends on their say so . It's a joke, I've read some of your stories and I can empathise.

Hi Hun I'm also going through a appeal for PIP
i was recieviving both higher care and mobility on my DLA   I didn't get a house visit I had to go to a local place for my medical thingy. I had to hold my sister going into the place and clearly I was in so much pain when just sitting she commented. I said I had left my stick in my car as I thought I was parking in there car park but ended up across the road
any ways. I had to decline the movements she wanted me to do from my waist down as it's way to painful she even put how weak my right hand and arm are
i suffer depression and I am on the highest strength dosage but on my report back they said I was on low dosage and getting no help while I was on a waiting list ( still am)
any ways they also said even tho I walked in by my self slowly. I did not my sister had to help me in and out. And also said i walked slowly out by my self
they only offered my the slandered care as I am unable to bath my self fully and so on but only awarded me 4 points on the mobility

i have lost my car , my little indopendence I did have and all the extra money I needed with help like paying a cleaner to come in my house and help and so on. Now even my housing is being put on hold   I have put in for a appeal against both care and mobility as I am unable to do little things even for my self and so on
sorry to rant I just feel the pain every one is going through cos of these evil people who tell lies.

    Elaine.

    Hi @LDBWILLI,

Are you carrying out your appeal on your own or have you sought some local advice? If you can get a benefits adviser on board they can help you with your appeal preparations. Also see the information we have on the Scope website about PIP and how to appeal DWP decisions. We link to other resources which you might find helpful.
    http://www.scope.org.uk/support/disabled-people/money/pip

Please keep us posted on the progress of your appeal and please share with us anything you think might be helpful to other people going through the same process.

    Good luck
    Debbie

    Hi @tinki1609,

What a nightmare for you also. You're doing the right thing by appealing. Are you preparing your appeal on your own or have you sought some advice on this? Sometimes it can help to get some face to face advice and help with the preparations.
Either way it's good that you're challenging the decision. The appeal success rate for PIP at tribunal is really quite high (65%). It's worth following it through but if you need help along the way let us know and do share with us how things go.

    Good luck
    Debbie

Thank you Debbie for the advice .....I've decided not to go to the high court appeal I've wrote everything in a 3 page letter on A4 ,they have acknowledged by post they have received my letter of appeal. The reason for not going is I've always liked to look smart my girls do my hair all the time and I wear false nails not flash but nice, but they would hold it against me and I don't see why I should go looking like a tramp. Hopefully they will let me know when it all be read in court.

    Regards

    Hi tinki1609
I'm sorry to hear your going through the same problems as me, it's a nightmare I just don't know how these so called Health professionals can get away with telling so many lies ,
I've have help throughout from my local disability forum right from getting DLA 7 years ago I'd of been lost without them. I hope all goes well for you do not give up as that's what they want. On top of all this carry on I found out earlier this year I've got COPD then last week type 2 diabetes no wonder I'm depressed but I won't stop trying.

    Take care LDBWILLI

    Hi @LDBWILLI,

Before you consider applying for Attendance Allowance, bear in mind that there are no provisions for mobility in AA. Please consider continuing with the PIP appeal because there is help with mobility in PIP. If you want to talk about this more I would be happy to arrange a telephone appointment with you to talk it through. You shouldn't not appeal for fear of how you come across at the hearing. Please at least talk to me or a local adviser before you give up on the PIP.
email me with your contact details including your username and we can talk this through some more. [email protected]

I'm sure our community agree that you should consider pursuing the appeal and we will all get behind you.

    Best wishes
    Debbie

Hi Debbie thank you for your prompt reply sorry if I've given you the impression that I'm giving up on PIP not at all I just didn't want to go through sitting in front of a panel when I know that I'd get upset and probably cry like I did previously  that's why I wrote everything down on paper plus I've got a poor memory I will take it as far as I can. It's really nice to know I'm not on my one and great to chat to others on this site .
