Can anyone shed any light on Max Cards?

hi my son was diagnosed with ASD Aspergers and PDA since diagnosis i havent had much in way of support apart from group on facebook with children like mine as i am new here advice would be greatfully received many of you may be aware of ASD  and Aspergers but not all areas are aware of PDA which is pathological demand avoidance its part of asd spectrum . i stubbled on max card i do get dla for my son but wasnt aware off discounts to zoos and things nobody told me about any help available i was looking up autisic friendly places and came across this does anyone else that can shed light on these cards as unaware to all this

Can I suggested you look at the PDA site, there is masses of information and support on line. 

Hope the school is working with you on PDA Stratagies . There is information for teachers.

Have you asked for an assesment of your needs. You are entitled to one. You might get some suitable respite and extra funding.

Has you son been tested for the co Morbid issues like Dyslexia, Dyspraxia ?

You ou are lucky to get the PDA diagnosis . So many won't give this.

Just as an example , you can sign up for priority service of most utility companies . Worth checking out. I had to endure burst mains water beside me .

Look for groups like this catering for additional needs children. Try your local College as well, I know the College my son attends does Specialist music groups for folks on the Spectrum and other additional needs.

Hi,
The PDA Society recommend four centres . The information is on their website. Unfortunately the cost is £3000+ . The other thing you have to be careful of is whether your LA will accept the diagnosis.

Have you asked your GP for a referral ? Have you had any assessments through CAMHS ? Do you have any diagnosis e.g. ADHD?

Its worth looking on the website , there is masses of information. There is also an email contact for personal confidential  chat to one of the Trustees. They all have children with PDA.

This is the support group network listed listed on the site. There is also training days listed through various groups and companies.

Do you know about iipsea and checking what you are entitled to? 

Have you had a Carers assesment of your needs ?  

Unfortunatly its very very much a Post Code Lottery . The Parents Forum and FB support groups will offer masses of information and advise.
