How do I get some sleep

Hi 

My name is Tayajay and take a lot of pain medication. For a long time I have had trouble sleeping at night, but lately I've not been able to get to sleep till 4-5 am. This is impossible for me as I'm a student at uni and need to get some sleep as it is now taking its toll on my studies. Hope you can help

If you can rule out anxiety and overstimulation such as television or Internet then this is something to discuss with your GP.

It is really important to have at least an hour before going to bed where you are not looking at any screens or doing any kind of reading that excites the brain, so no studying. Although this routine is on here for children it also work well for adults to follow http://www.scope.org.uk/support/families/sleep/routine
The other important thing to remember is you need to get up at the same time everyday we would advise no later than 7am, that includes weekends even if you haven't slept well, by doing this you are setting your body clock.
