Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is a benefit designed to help with the extra costs resulting from disability or long-term ill health. PIP rates range from £21.80 to £139.75 per week, depending on how your condition affects you.

To quote from the official government website, “you must have a long-term condition or disability and face difficulties with ‘daily living’ or getting around (and) you must have had these difficulties for 3 months and expect them to last for at least 9 months (to be eligible for PIP).”

PIP is gradually replacing Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for all people born after 8 April 1948 who are aged 16 and over. Rollout of this replacement is currently ongoing until the end of 2018.

You can find out more about Personal Independent Payment on Scope's PIP information page.
