I have been given 6 days notice of a home visit via a DWP letter. The letter says 'We are coming to visit you about your application to be appointed to act on behalf of .....' What is the visit likely to entail? Is it the full assessment?

    Hi ASDMum,

    That sounds like a visit about you being an appointee. It isn't the assessment for benefit (PIP or ESA), it's a visit to talk to you about being appointed to act on behalf of the claimant (friend or family member) that you are helping. 

    They are interviewing you to make sure that you are a suitable appointee (and if the claimant lives with you, to check that an appointee is needed, if this hasn't already been checked).  There are a few more details here.

    This visit shouldn't be a medical assessment as that is carried out by an assessor on behalf of the DWP rather than the DWP themselves, and also, it doesn't sound as if you have been given any notice about an assessment.
