MRI scan & CP

Hi, my son is 23 months & is unable to stand or walk unaided, he attends regular physiotherapy sessions & was referred to a paediatrician who then referred him for an MRI scan & blood tests because she couldn't see anything physically wrong with why he wasn't walking? He has had the MRI scan & blood tests which have come back normal but I'm not convinced that he doesn't have CP?! I've read extensively about it & all symptoms point towards CP?! The paediatrician is now referring him to Great Ormand Street hospital neurologists & his physio has referred him onto a more 'specialist team' for his physio so I'm a bit baffled as what it can be & if I should be more concerned that they're not sure what he has now that it's not CP?! Is it possible that it can still be CP even though the MRI came back normal?

Hi @crybaby i believe it happens. In fact I'm told it happened with me; I have right sided hemiplegia which is a form of cerebral palsy. Apparently my brain hadn't fully formed when I was born (prematurely and at 2 lb 1ozs). However, this sorted itself out (brains are amazing things for plasticity and adapting to things) and the most recent MRI I had as an adult showed no abnormalities either, but I definitely have cerebral palsy. Does that make sense? They'll look into this, I'm sure.

Hey my son had an MRI and it didn't show much but he has been diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy now he is over the age of 2. So that being said don't always listen to the MRI and go with instincts, happy to chat any time x
