Hi I work with young adults and one young man is concerned that he can't claim ESA as it will affect his PIP payments. Can anyone advise us on this please? He isn't in receipt of anything other than PIP.

Claiming ESA will not effect his pip. Hope this helps.
-
Thanks you it certainly does!

@sarahgilbert there is a benefits calculator here that might help to see what he could be entitled to.

I claim both. They don't affect each other. Completely separate benefits.

My husband gets esa can I claim it too or will it be a joint claim
-
yes u can i was claiming both till they took my esa of me
-
sill the stuff ive got help me?
-
Yes definitely - completely separate.
PIP is for the extra costs of disability.
ESA is for people who have limited capability for work.
He should claim as soon as possible & ask for up to 3 months backdating. He doesn't need to give a reason!
