hi, my local simming pool has upgraded and instead of steps they have installed a hoist style lift .
this is operated by a member of staff and goes at a speed that my legs ( i have MS) find painful
when i used the steps, i could enter the pool at my own speed and allow my legs and neuro pain to ease in slowly.
does anyone else have this problem?

Hi @debrac can you speak to the staff/manager at the pool and ask if they can work the hoist at a speed you feel more comfortable with?

Hi @debrac.
Welcome to our website/online community.
Yes you would be better talking to a senior member of staff who should be able to help you.
Please please come back if that doesn't do the trick. -

My body takes a while to adjust to temperature changes too. Tell the person operating the hoist that you need to go in slow stages from as soon as your body touches the water because of the temperature change. I hate the hoist because I feel everyone has nothing better to do than stare at me the whole time until after I'm in the water! But I love swimming as I can't walk and so it's my only form of exercise now x
