sewing and adapting garments

My little girl is getting a bit bigger, and things like the standard popper vests don't fit any more. I know you can buy them in larger sizes from M&S and specialist places - but I would love to learn to make some things myself.

I am doing a sewing course when she starts school
in September and got a beautiful sewing machine yesterday :)

Has anyone done any sewing and adapting garments? And have any ideas to share please?

These are the ideas I have had so far: bandana and feeding bibs, sewing socks to her onesies so her feet don't get cold, adding poppers to her play suits (for pad changes) and making neck holes bigger on tops (she has a large head due to her disability)

So far I have made a couple of bandanas and a Clanger (a kids kit) if anyone can give me some advice that would be brilliant x

Oh I love sewing @Blue Frog I have an old second hand sewing machine and if Im honest, Im not very good but I always thing practice makes perfect!

I am jealous of your sewing course! As soon as I have some spare time,I think I will look into doing one.

I found this link and though the language is not great (Ie they say 'the disabled') it might have some handy tips for you.  I also found a sewing forum called the sewing place where you might find some others to chat to and get tips from  :)
