My daughter has now lost the ability to speak, has anyone got any idreas please. She can't swallow very well, and can now only drink out of a baby cup. We she eats a lot of it comes out of her mouth and down her bib. I feel so alone with this, and just want to cry right now.

    Hi @Jammiedodger51,

Welcome to Scope's online community! It's great to have you here.

I'm sorry to hear how you feel, please know you're not alone and that there's a wonderful community of people here who are here to help and offer support.

Have you spoken to your GP? They may be able to point you in the right direction in terms of specialist help with regards to your daughter's speaking and eating.

I've also moved this post into our Parents and Carers category, so other members of our community can offer further advise.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, then please do get in touch.
    Liam

You need to ask your GP to refer you urgently to a speech and language therapist with dysphagia (swallowing problems) training.  They should also help with the speech and communication problems.  Feeding and swallowing issue needs attention because your daughter will start to lose weight AND she may start to inhale food instead of swallow it and that can lead to chest infections.  Sorry to sound a bit dramatic but it might take a while for the referral so you need to jump up and down and say it is urgent !  good luck
