Hi there

I am currently filling in the SSCS1 form to appeal the PIP mandatory reconsideration that was again turned down. This is for my 19 year old son who is on the autistic spectrum. Before being turned down for PIP he was currently in receipt of DLA at high rate for daily living and lower rate for mobility. I just want to ask what I send in with the SSCS1 form along with the mandatory reconsideration letter. I was told by a gentleman at welfare rights not to send additional info in at this stage as I will get a chance to do this later. I just wanted a second opinion on this as I was worried about not getting the chance to before the tribunal date and then the tribunal members not having all the correct paperwork beforehand. I am finding this all very stressful and hate seeing the affect its having on my son Daniel who was very stressed leading upto the initial face to face assessment that was held in Wigan. Would love some advice and also comments from anyone also going through this experience.

All you need is your basic reasons for disputing the decision when you submit the SSCS1. You should then receive a letter from the clerk within 2 weeks to say that your appeal has been accepted.
The DWP will then prepare their case and you will receive a copy of all the evidence , known as the bundle. This should happen within 28 days. when you receive the bundle you should check that all your evidence that you have submitted is included.
You then use the bundle to finish your detailed submission refering to it on a point by point basis for each descriptor. This is the time that you can add any further evidence, also referencing it. Any new paperwork should have name and NI on each page.

Thanks for that advice. That makes more sense and a bit easier to understand. I thought I also had to explain why I thought he should be given more points on the different sections that I disagree with but do I do that at the next stage to?

I made my case on the SSCS1 form based on the DWP Decision Letter, the Atos Report and the DWP reply to my MR.  When the bundle arrived there were no documents I hadn't seen before except the medical reports when I first claimed DLA.  There were a few documents I sent in from time to time later as further evidence.

Tribunal awarded me enhanced rate both components indefinitely (increased from standard both components for five years).

Thanks for your comments, that also helps. I've also filled in the SSCS1 form now and referred back to the Atos report which was a joke. It contradicts things said in the face to face assessment of my son. All DWP keep saying is that my son plays on X box live and talks to strangers (which I certainly did not say) so he can communicate. He only talks to 2 friends that are also on the autistic spectrum and does not talk to strangers. Even then conversation is very limited. I am so pleased you got awarded enhanced rate and are getting what your entitled to.
