Hi, new here.
And somewhat new to dealing with a physical disability after a stroke and being in a coma. To be honest it's not new, new, but for me I feel I am now accepting that I won't get much better. Feeling alone or lonely and guilty for feeling this way..... Shouldn't I feel greatlful for being alive? I do, but still the limitations are like a prison sometimes....I so want to run. The little things that before the coma I could do and never thought twice about. Reality is slowly settling in I guess. Haven't discussed this with anyone in my 3D world. Thanks for reading and sorry if this sounds drippy??

Thank you CR and Steve51!!
It's nice to chat with you and know that I am not alone in how I feel, and that it's Ok to share my feelings! Thank you so much!
About me.....I am female 51 and on , 30th of August will be my 2 year anniversary of going into a Coma and life changed. My husband called the 911, cause he could not wake me up no matter what he did. They said at the NICU that I was in a 6-7 on the GCS (Glasgow Coma Scale) and 60% Oxygen intake. And the specialists couldn't be my husband any promises if I will wake up and not I did will I be in a vegitative state. My poor husband what he went through! I was in hospitals till 16th of November, 2015 and he came everyday and took off work in the beginning. So how am I now? I superseded all the doctors predictions. Slowly my mind and memory came back after waking up from the coma. I was bed ridden for months until I went to a rehab hospital. There I learned how to walk again with walkers then a cane. My left side was shut down then with a lot of persistence and work, my left side is working at an 80% capacity. I cannot walk a long distance or stand for more than 10 minutes. Forget about running. Stairs are a challenge.....
That's about it for now....In a nutshell. Coming here I hope to not feel so alone....I think I came to the right place! I am open, ifmyou have any questions or suggestions. -

Hi @Nefret
Welcome to the forum. It sounds as though you have done really well in your bid to be physically well again but it is important to remember what you have been through and the massive impact this has had on your life. You need to try to not to be so hard on yourself.
I can hear your feelings of guilt but you have nothing to feel guilty about. Those feelings are normal after what you have been and continue to go through. I understand you asking the question about feeling grateful for being alive and many people who have been at death's door ask the same thing but you are not alone and I am sure you will find the support in this forum.
I am wondering if you have been able to talk to other people who have gone through a similar life changing experience?
It is important to talk about how you are feeling and get the support that you deserve.
Take care
