Hi folks,I'm a taxi driver with a ford transit 8 seater but I also have it converted for wheel chair use,I'd like to voice some concerns at the chairs I sometimes strap into my van some don't have functional brakes some have no tie down hooks and I find problems trying to get up my two evenly spaced ramps chairs of a type that the front wheel spacing is smaller than the rear.i have tried my best with getting such hires from a to b but recently iv been made aware that perhaps ( and that's why I'm on here today) I am putting people in danger in securing chairs using the frame instead of the proper tie down hooks can I have the forums thoughts please

Oh my goodness. That is Bad. I thought you had to have the proper fixing points and the chairs are all crash tested. The taxis that take kids to school round here refuse to take anyone whose chair isn’t approved. The customers are putting you in a really difficult situation. What does your insurance company say about it?

I only mentioned insurance in case something goes wrong, as I wouldn't want @geegee to get into trouble? I know I would be held responsible if I put my little girl in an unsafe wheelchair in the car and we were then in an accident.
But, I don't know what the situation is with an adult in a taxi - hence suggesting checking with insurance. It would also give them a good reason to say, no sorry I can't take you (as it is dangerous) It isn't that I don't care
