Hi @MichaelMay
Have you managed to replace your scooter?
If not, here are a few ideas of how people are sometimes able to get a scooter without having to find a large amount of money themselves to buy a new one:
Motability: for some people that get the mobility component of DLA/PIP this is an option if they haven’t already committed the benefit to paying for a car https://www.motability.co.uk/cars-scooters-and-powerchairs/types-of-products/types-of-scooters
Charitable funders: such as the Mobility Trust http://mobilitytrust.org.uk/ you can also search for other organisations that give charitable grants on our website: https://www.scope.org.uk/support/disabled-people/search-grants
Pre-owned: some of the places that sell used disability equipment are listed on the Scope website https://www.scope.org.uk/support/disabled-people/equipment/used-equipment
Hire: There are numerous hire companies, I can’t recommend a specific company but if you google “hire a disability scooter uk” you will find lots of possibilities to explore.
Best Wishes
Jean
