Hi Im new to this please excuse my ignorance on this! My son had a car accident Christmas eve and has become a paraplegic im looking for advise on lots of things!!!

    Welcome to the community - I'm sorry to hear your son has had a car accident :(

    I can imagine theres a lot going through you mind at the moment and probably not sure where to begin. Some of my team at the helpline worked with our content manager to produce an information product called 'Becoming Disabled' which is on our main website:

    The idea behind this was to give some practical information for anyone new to the world of disability - hopefully this will be a helpful starting point for you.

    How old is your son ?

    Hi my son is 24 yrs old. He is booked to have an operation to stabilise his spine next week then approx 6 weeks off to Sheffield princess royal for rehab! I’m really worried about him getting depressed he had hope that it would all be awrong diagnosis and he would walk! But reality is starting to sink in!!

    I’m very very sorry to hear about your sons accident.

    I had my Stroke when I was in my 30’s & things where very bleak initially.

    But with “Grit & Determination” 

    I managed to get myself going in some fashion in the end.
