I was on ESA and failed a medical, I have appealed and waiting for my tribunal but like many others I have had to sign on to jobseekers to get UC even though I am still ill Physically and Mentally, I now have to get sick notes from my GP to prove I am not fit for work, my problem is I can not cope paying my bills or having enough left over to buy food, I get paid of the 17th of every month after housing I get 354.32 to live on, so 12 payments equals £4,251.84, when I was on ESA I was getting approx £250 every 2 weeks which is 26 weeks a year which equals £6.500. even if I got £250 x2 a month (£500) I would get £6,000 which is still £500 short which suggests to me I am losing a months money on either rate, can anyone please help me understanding this as I feel I am not alone

Hello @johnjo, and welcome to the community. It is good to have you with us.
You are certainly not alone. You will find many others here who face similar problems and who will sympathise only too well.
Now, I'm not a benefits specialist but I know that we have many here and some of them will be in contact with you soon. In the meantime you might like to have a look at the link 'Employment issues, finances and ESA' here: https://community.scope.org.uk/categories/benefits-and-finances
Please keep in touch,
Warmest best wishes,
Richard
