My 13yr old son with Aspergers is finding high school very difficult. It’s an extremely long day for him, an hour and forty minute bus journey just to get there! - which he finds quite stressful. He used to travel to school with his friend from the village, which made the day slightly more bearable but his friend has since moved away. He tries to mask his difficulties at school which adds even more stress to an already anxious day. He comes home exhausted and often extremely irritable. Sunday’s are impossible as are Monday mornings.

Yes, he does go to a mainstream school. The school is trying to accommodate him and they have been very good up too now. It’s difficult to help him as he wants to blend in so won’t ask for help and if help is offered won’t accept it.
He was attending CAMHS but this really didn’t help him at all.
I’ve recently registered him with PAS and hoping, if nothing else, they can help liaise with the school. I must add, my son is a very different child at school from the one we see at home. Which makes things more difficult. He feels safe at home, safe to show his fears and anger.

Does your son have an Educational Health and Care Plan? You may want to try and get in touch with an Independent Support Service who could offer support and information?
Also the National Autistic Society have a lot of information and support that you might like to look through.

Just looked at Independent Support Service - unfortunately we live in Scotland - I'm guessing there must be something similar here, I'll do a bit of googling.

I had a quick look and it seems in Scotland there is a CSP (Coordinated Support Plan) and an IEP (Individual Education Plan) These might be things to look into.
