Karis Lane my daughter was part of the spastic society human rights campaign back in 1992 to promote equality for people with cp...karis is now aged 27. Today we paid privately to see an orthopaedic consultant as NHS appointments for adults with orthopaedic problems. .please note not CP specific are only held once per month with the next available appointment for my daughter being May 23rd 2018!! Too long to wait when you are in severe pain.
I really agree with the posts that have been placed on the scopes online community page that it is about time that Scope started to look after and support more adults with cerebral palsy as NHS ADULT CP SERVICES ARE NON EXISTENT!

Hi @karenlane
Welcome to the community and thank you for your post. I can understand the frustration that you and Karis are feeling, the same happened to me in 2000. The wait for surgery was huge and I was off work because it was too painful to sit in my wheelchair. As soon as my family offered to pay my surgery was arranged for the following week with the same orthopaedic consultant.
I have recently joined Scope as the Specialist Information Officer for CP. Previously I was a Community Champion so I am aware of the discussions that have been posted around the subject of treatment for people like your daughter and I.
I am really keen to work with everyone who has experience of CP to build upon what Scope already offers. I would love for you and Karis to be part of it.
