i was glad to find by the asseser that my son doesn't have asphergers after 24 years special ed support and speacial needs collage

    Hi,

    PIP isn't awarded based on a diagnosis, it's how those conditions affect you daily.

    If he recently got refused PIP then he has 1 month from the date of the decision to ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) he will need to put the request in writing stating what he disagrees with and why.

    Was evidence sent to support the claim? They very rarely contact anyone for evidence? If no evidence was sent then i'd advice sending it with the MR request letter.

    A copy of the assessment report will help with this stage. If you don't have a copy then ring DWP and ask them to send this. Good luck.

    @gwen65 who knew after all these years of trusting doctors and specialists it was those working beneath them  that had the miracle cures?

    @poppy123456 is correct though it is not based on diagnosis. My daughter has Aspergers but would not qualify for PIP.

    Do move on ahead with the next stage as suggested and ask for that assessment report. If you are into science fiction or fantasy writing it will probably make a good read.

    He has support so I've sent his review of needs and the support he's getting he is going on to self funding support as he needs it I've sent all this to the court called the court last week and they said its going to be 23 weeks why don't they read all this information and make a judgement from this

    It's not a simple as that. Appearing in person will give your son the best chance of a decision going in his favour. Paper based hearings are always less likely to win.

    The 23 weeks is just a guide too as lots of people are waiting several months, some are waiting as long as 1 year for their date. The backlogs all over the country are huge for Tribunals.
