HI,
I have been paid off through long term illness and all my employer said is I would get 12 weeks wages in lieu, what does this mean.

Hi @wendy1
Many thanks for your question.
Payment in lieu or PILON is usually made to an employee when their employment has being terminated without notice due to issues such as long term illness.
The 12 weeks wages stated would include the amount you would have earned if you worked during the notice period plus any holiday you where entitled to.
If you have any concerns or questions around this I would advice you to get in contact with ACAS on 0300 123 1100.
Hope that helps
