    Hi @ruthmain
Welcome to the community! Are there any local charities nearby which sell furniture and appliances?

    Hi @ruthmain,

Welcome to Scope's online community! It's great to have you here. :)

Whereabouts is your friend based? Has your friend considered contacting their local Citizens Advice Bureau? They may be able to offer some advice and support about organisations which could provide further help and information.

I hope this helps. Do let us know if you have any other questions!

Depending on what benefits she claims and how long she's been claiming them she could get a budgeting loan from DWP. How much she gets will totally depend on her circumstances, if she's single, has dependent children living with her etc. These loans have to be paid back and the money is deducted weekly from the benefits. https://www.gov.uk/budgeting-help-benefits

There may also be charities in her area that donate household goods but you'll need to google what's in her area. Other than that there's lots of free sites on the internet where people give away their unwanted items. Facebook have lots of these, gumtree, free cycle etc, all you need to do is search her area.
