Feeling so cut off from those around me

My degree of disability separates me from others around me who can function better and who don't struggle to get the ordinary every-day done. I am in that way different, and that makes me feel so alone even when many others. I can listen to them, but they cannot really listen to me (if I talked about my situation).

I am often physically isolated and the emotional isolation caused bye gap between my life and that of many others feels so isolated, too.

Isolation is such a tough thing to deal with, I hope being part of this community helps a little to chat to others who understand.

Have you looked into any groups local to you that might help?

 Coming here does help. This is a very small, back-water town with no groups available. There are a lot of Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, but that's about it for support groups.

Hi @cracker. I'm sorry to hear about how you're feeling. It's so tough to get others to understand and can be very isolating. Something I've found helpful for me is to put how I'm feeling mentally and physically down on into words or find videos on youtube and send a concise email to those who really care about me to help them understand. I think we can sometimes expect people to know how we feel but they often can't understand so you have to forgive them. But I think education is key and it's certainly helped my relationship with my family.

I do not have an alcohol problem, sorry if I gave that impression. I meant simply that all that's here for support group is meetings for alcoholics. I don't qualify.
