Finding it difficult to fit in

Hi all, since I have been in college I am finding it hard to fit in with people. This is mainly because I am constantly thinking I am being judged as I have cp. I want to try and fit in with everyone and be involved in a friendship circle, but I do not know what to do. I Just want to be normal and fit in. Is there any advice for someone with Cp to make friends better and fit in more within the society?

I'm sorry your finding it hard to fit in at college because of being worried about being judged due to your CP.
As someone with CP, I know it sounds like a cliche, but my best advice is to just be yourself, and true friends will be there and find you.
Try to remember that your CP only is a very small part of what makes you you, and by just being yourself and talking about your interests in an open and friendly way, I'm sure you will find a good circle of true friends.
And you can also use this community at any time to chat about things and find others with similar queries.

Trust me, everyone who starts college is trying to fit in. It can be difficult to overcome the barriers that our minds sometimes create. The people at college will be just as worried about what people are thinking about them! I agree with what @arichmond has said. You are a person who happens to live with CP it is not everything that you are.
I would look for groups or societies within the college that focus on a subject you are interested in. That way you immediately have something in common with members of the group.

Hi @Creed5 and apologies for the delay in responding. Many students struggle with making friends at college and university. I would bring in some chocolates or cupcakes as a way of starting to talk to people. The hyperlink above is to our Facebook page for disabled and dyslexic students in colleges and universities.
