Cataract surgery

Hi guys
I've recently been told, I have cataracts.
And they have now booked me in for the cataracts surgery.
I've been told by a few people, it's nothing to worry about, I will be in and out before I know it.
I'm profoundly deaf with other disabilitys, but my main worry is that I also suffer with
"non specific vasculities".
My eye doctor as asked if I can speak to my doctor, about maybe using anti biotics before the surgery?
But my vasculities doctor as told me to hold off having the surgery, until I'm seen by her eye specialist.
This surgery doesn't sound so simple after all?.
I know my eyesight will deterate slowly, if I don't have the surgery.
But im worried if I do have the surgery? I might end up having an infection? And loose my eyesight altogether?.
I would love to hear from other disabled people, who have had the surgery.
Maybe it would help me, make a decision?
Thanks for any replys

It was a bit weird going from severe short-sightedness for 50+ years to being effectively long-sighted, but I got used to it pretty quickly. The only lasting effect is that I'm supposed to wear sunglasses outside even if it's cloudy because of the lack of natural UV protection in the artificial lenses.
Hi @poppy123456 @axwy62
Thanks guys 😀
That's great advice.
I'm only 45, so it was a bit of a shock, when they told me I had cataracts.
They think it's been brought on by my medications?
My husband has cancelled the operation for me, well until I've seen the eye specialist?
Ohhh I didn't know about wearing sunglasses, that's awesome.
The only info they've given me, is about the operation.
Thanks guys
I deffenatly think there is a misconception, about people with cataracts.
When he told me I had cataracts, i went on the defensive.
How old does he think I am ect lol.
I didn't know my medication, could affect my eyesight.
The steroid eye drops you mentioned, is probebly something i could use instead of more tablets.
I will ask the eye specialist, if it's something I could use?
Thanks 😀
