Hello

I am a new member and what directed me to Scope was  to see if anyone can advise how to find someone to come with me on hospital visits.

I have hospital transport but due to the risk of fainting etc require an escort with me since distraction to driver caused by the event, and possible panic of other passengers, could cause an accident.

I am not too badly disabled.  Not blind enough, deaf enough or fall prone enough to come under the umbrella of any of the charities I have contacted, and to which I am being ping ponged by social services.

I am happy to pay something for the help

How do other Members find people to help them in this way please?

Thank you for any suggestions, as I have already had to cancel 0ne appointment due to being unable to find an escort.

    Welcome to the community @catwoman5757

Do you have any friends or family who could go with you? The NHS says:

    Non-emergency patient transport services

Some people are eligible for non-emergency patient transport services (PTS). These services provide free transport to and from hospital for:

    • people whose condition means they need additional medical support during their journey
    • people who find it difficult to walk
    • parents or guardians of children who are being transported
Do you feel the transport service can not offer you additional medical support?

I ambulance transport but need escort for the transported appointment.  I have asked everyone I know, approached social services and charities and put messages everywhere I can on Facebook.  I am going to have to cancel my appointment.  I am grateful for reply though.

Oh I'm sorry to hear this @catwoman5757.

If there's nothing else, I did find this website called Companions who provide appointment escorts. They have a contact form on their site, might be worth enquiring?

    Thank you so much Pippa

I had to cancel the appointment as I had nobody to go with me

I just hope I can afford these people, as they are exactly what I need, but there is no price scale on the site, which usually means expensive.  I will let you know x
