Bullying, my experience
I was bullied badly as a child. I was
short and stocky (most assumed fat), suffered badly from asthma, wore
spectacles and had a funny surname. I didn’t like to fight unless there was no
alternative, or without good reason.
My parents talked to the school, my dad tried to teach me self defence. None of
it helped.
Then one day I just decided I had had enough. The usual group of 3 bullies came
for me in the playground. I knocked one down on the spot, started in on the
next, had to chase the third nearly a mile to settle accounts. I was so angry,
for once the asthma didn’t stop me.
I still don’t like fighting – or arguing, without a good reason though
I’m considerably less able to do so now.
