Hi, my name is Becky and I am after a little advise about my son who has just been diagnosed with verbal dyspraxia, he has just turned 3.

We went to a private SALT to avoid the massive waiting time through the NHS and she immediately diagnosed verbal dyspraxia, but he has no other problems, his comprehension and social skills are really good. We have attended a couple of private appointments with the SALT but it is very expensive and I feel I am able to imitate the basics while we wait for an NHS appointment.

What I'm looking for is help with the emotional support for him, especially as he gets older and realises that he is a bit different to his friends. Like all mums, I just want to make life as easy for him as possible, He's such a happy, loving little boy, it really upsets me to think that life is going to be tougher for him.

Can anyone tell me about their own experiences with this?

Thank you in advance.
