Good evening
my question regarding UC (no surprise there) as yet I have not been contacted regarding changing over however very recently I received a DWP ESA3 means tested question and answer claim benefit form , I rang the help line number and was informed I had to fill it in and send it off, I asked what this was for and was told it was to see if I was entitled to a benefit I could have been claiming since changing over from incapacity to esa in 2013 the benefit is for income related top up for those with long term illnesses not expected to improve and if you live alone (which I do), I am currently on contribution based esa and always have been
I want to know if by filling in this form for a benefit I had no knowledge of will this trigger the need to change over to UC?
I'm also still on DLA

Hello @Millyspuppet and a warm welcome to the community.
I'm not qualified to answer your question directly but will refer it 'upward' to someone who will know more, and hopefully they will be in contact with you soon - probably tomorrow unless someone is working very late
You're among friends here. Bear with us and keep in touch.
Warmest best wishes,

Hi @Millyspuppet
Welcome it’s great to meet you today.
I’m very very sorry ? to hear ? about your current situation.
Can I please try to assist you with things??
1. The ESA3
Form is for “backpayment’s”
Here’s some info below on the “backpayments”
https://search.scope.org.uk/s/redirect?collection=scope-meta&url=https%3A%2F%2Fcommunity.scope.org.uk%2Fdiscussion%2F52219%2Fesa-3-form&index_url=https%3A%2F%2Fcommunity.scope.org.uk%2Fdiscussion%2F52219%2Fesa-3-form&auth=k7Pd9i84Z3g8wymccEBPzw&profile=_default&rank=4&query=Esa+3
2. Both ESA + DLA (PIP) are
completly different Benefit’s so one doesn’t have a bearing on each other.
Please please let me know if I can help you further??? -
