Pension Credit closed due to loss of PIP - if PIP re-awarded do I get back dated Pension Credit?

I have got someone on board to do the PIP appeal for me. If he wins would our Pension Credit award be reinstated to when it stopped because of the initial PIP decision early this year?

That's great news I am so glad that you have the support you need. I understood that you were not able to fight them anymore because of your health preventing you to do so. Can I ask did you contact the agencies I mentioned in the other posts?
Its nice to see that you are going to fight for what you should have been entitled to in the first place.
What made you change your mind? the support with your PIP?

Yes there is no way, mentally or physically I could cope with a Tribunal and everything that goes with it. I was going to go to the CAB to get a referral but given the past experience of them and their lack of professionalism, I looked elsewhere.
Personally I am not that bothered if I do win financially as as it is now what I have not had can't change how we have had to live our lives for the past 11 months. Future payments will of course make all the difference. 
I'm not too sure that I am entitled to the award but I do know that I am entitled to a fair hearing.
Change my mind? I got to thinking that it was unfair when I have been reading of those that are awarded it who in my opinion have nothing more than something that with the right attitude and help can be treated. On top of that given that I have had the highest rates of DLA since 1995 and twice have been given the highest rates of PIP following a MR.
Surely the DWP must be wrong again this time with the offer of 0 points.


We will see how it goes next week.

I am just like you I have had to change my life style not that I spent silly beforehand. Don't know about you but I have to rob Peter to pay Paul. Its also stopped me from going to see my families. My poor Mum who is 72 has to come down and help me because I can't iron, cook, bathe etc with no one there, I have had too many incidents happen with my seizures so I do not use an oven or hobs or iron anymore. Nearly died in the bath and if I hadn't had my son there I would have drowned. This is stated in my evidence and also serious injuries from falling down the stairs because of my epilepsy, from my specialist nurse still 0 points for care!
Must think me and my nurse are liars! however the HCP was allowed to answer questions I wasn't even asked and also there was so many inaccuracies within the report. If that was us we would be done for fraud!
Lets see where I get with the complaints and errors the DWP actually admit in a letter that there was inaccuracies in my report so I have it in black and white.
Anyway keep fighting Yadnad!

Really does one lose their pension credit if they dont any PIP award at all? Didn't realise the two were connected?

Yes it can happen. Our Pension Credit assessment included a premium for both of us being in receipt of a disability benefit and no one claimed Carers Allowance for us.

That increased the amount that the DWP said that we needed to be able to live on. Our total income was £55 a week short of this figure so they made a Pension Credit award of £55 a week. Getting that award automatically could have given us maximum housing benefit if we were renting or help towards the mortgage payments if we had a mortgage. We have neither so that didn't matter. What did matter was that as soon as the Council realised that we had lost the Pension Credit award they took away the 100% Council Tax Reduction. That left us with not only losing the PIP award, but the £55 a week Pension Credit and the £35 a week Council Tax benefit  We now have to pay the full council tax of £35 a week out of our much reduced income. Our income went down by £200 a week + what we now pay for council tax of £35 a week
