Too old to start a career?

Hi I'm currently in my 3rd year with the OU (2nd year of actual course) I'm studying psychology and counselling, sometimes I feel like giving up because I am too old to start a career. Any thoughts?

How much much longer do you have to go? I applaud you anyway!

You are never too old! Do it for yourself, with that qualification you could help a lot of people.  :)

    Hi @Julie54

You don't say how old you are [unless the clue is in your user name] but as a counsellor myself I would say the vast majority of counsellors train when they are in their 40s and 50s.  Personally I think the life experience helps enormously!

Will the course mean you will then be a qualified counsellor?

The only thing I would say is that it's not a career for immediately making money... if that's your intention then I would do something else!

Good luck with the rest of your course.

    Hi @Julie54

Congratulations on your studies so far. You are never too old to start a new career. you can make a difference to so many people with this qualification and have that sense of achievement at the end.

I wish you all the best for the rest of your course.

    Hi @Julie54

Congratulations on your achievements so far.  You are never to old to start a career and counselling is one that many people begin in their 30' and 40's.

Keep going and just keep in mind on those tough days, it will be worth it in the end.

    Kind Regards
