I am 50, have been disabled since age of 18. I have a wonderful partner, family, step family and grandchildren. I am finding it hard at the moment due to pain, weather and getting more depressed each day. I try to keep up beat but sometimes it's hard to keep up a front. I do not know how to talk to the doctors as I see a different one each time I go to the surgery. How does everyone deal with depression and feelings if incompetency, and not exactly fitting in the right space?

Hello @Niknak50 Pleased to meet you welcome.
Thank you for joining and sharing.
Sorry you are having some problems with your mental health. I do understand. As one of the team of community champions I have mental health issues.
Mainly anxiety and depression.
I also have had similar issues with Doctors and used to have different ones. With discussions with my support worker got in touch with an advocate.
All depends the area you are from. I contacted a charity called RETHINK. They appoint an advocate for you to represent you at Doctors. They speak on your behalf with discussions with you before. Asking what you wish to say.
Deal with any one who has mental health issues. One useful suggestion from the start of the interview with them was to ask for one Doctor.
Which I did . Also in attendance got a lot of things and the best to help me deal with any thing.
I do not use RETHINK now but write down what I wish to say and give the Doctor this is the problem.
I know depression is hard, difficult not easy to cope with . I have some bad days and some good but what has helped is finding the support I need.
I know I am aware of my own mental health . Are you receiving any support with any issues or problems.?
I use mental health charities used this one.

I know we have these feelings and emotions how to deal with that.
By coping methods and strategies. Which are very useful to deal with what you are experiencing. By accessing the support and guidance can be beneficial.
We are here anytime you wish . Please if you wish to have a chat or not feel lonely we are here.
Please keep in touch.
Take care.

Hi @Niknak50
Good Morning/Welcome.
It’s great to meet you today!!!!!
I’m very very sorry to hear about your current problems.
Yes it is very easy to go down the “depression” route!!!!!
I must say that I don’t have any “Negative Thought’s” in my head at all.
This can be “slightly” hard at times but I know that it’s all for the best in the end.
Feeling “un well” can be a “double edged sword” as it effects my “Pain” Big Time.
