Due to my wife working we don't get income related esa.
My benifit entitlement for the last 365 days is due to my previous national insurance contribution which as now ended. Due to me having to wait for medical assessment I am not receiving any benifit at the moment and I'm trying to find out if you can get a reduced rate benifit till I have my assessment.

Hi,No, it's not possible to claim any ESA at a reduced rate because your Contributions based ESA ended after 365 days because it's only paid for this amount of time unless placed into the Support Group. If successfully placed into the support group eventually, then your money will be backdated.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

Yes I have claimed uc after I had been through 3 appeals. And with in a month of claiming uc and having my medical assessment I was found not fit for work and had my benifit restarted
Very strange to me that esa after 3 appeals found me fit for work yet uc firsts assessment I didn't even have to do the pysical part and was found unfit to work. So much difference and out comes from surposedly professional medical people -
If you're waiting for a Tribunal for your ESA then even if you were successful and went back onto Contributions based ESA then it will be deducted £1 for £1 from your UC claim.

I wasn't successful and life was very difficult during this 18 months period financial.
To this day I'm still amazed that the esa and appeal court upheld there dission to say even with specialist and gp reports that I was fit for work then with the same medical evidence uc dissagred and restored my benifit.
