    Hi @wyn and welcome

If you both fulfil the eligibilty criteria then yes you would be entitled to claim.

    Eligibility

    The person you care for

The person you care for must already get one of these benefits:

    • Personal Independence Payment - daily living component
    • Disability Living Allowance - the middle or highest care rate
    • Attendance Allowance
    • Constant Attendance Allowance at or above the normal maximum rate with an Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
    • Constant Attendance Allowance at the basic (full day) rate with a War Disablement Pension
    • Armed Forces Independence Payment

    Your eligibility

You must earn no more than £120 a week after tax and expenses. Expenses can include:

    • 50% of your pension contributions
    • some of the costs of caring for your children or the disabled person while you’re at work

All of the following must also apply:

    • you’re 16 or over
    • you spend at least 35 hours a week caring for someone
    • you’ve been in England, Scotland or Wales for at least 2 of the last 3 years (this does not apply if you’re a refugee or have humanitarian protection status)
    • you normally live in England, Scotland or Wales, or you live abroad as a member of the armed forces
    • you’re not in full-time education
    • you’re not studying for 21 hours a week or more
    • you’re not subject to immigration control

Bear in mind the reasons for you both claiming PIP. Does your condition allow for you to care for your friend for 35 hours per week ?
Is your friends condition compatible with caring for you for 35 hours per week ?

It is likely that both of your claims will be scrutinised fully, for example if you need physical help and your friend also needs physical help, how will you manage this ?

The 35 hours care given to you will need to be separate to the 35 hours care that you give, so an average of 10 hours per day between the two of you.

    Do you live together ?
It is more usual to be able to give reciprocal care for a couple living together,
Be all you can be, make  every day count. Namaste

Hi I have just been looking through the conversation following my question that I asked for help with and noticed you had to tell someone to take something down that was aimed at me, obviously Im really not impressed that someone has said stuff and I don’t even know what was said as I have only just been able to get back on here, I joined this as I believed that it was full of good people that are here to help and this has really annoyed me, but thankyou for what you said to the person who wrote something obviously wrong towards me, I would like to know what was said about me though please??
