Isolation of deaf

RosaMazzitelliRosaMazzitelli Member Posts: 5 Connected
I think the idea of sending out postcards etc to the lonely is such a good idea. I for one know how deaf can isolate. Pen pals would be so good too even for those of we already retired. I had penpals years ago for the same reason. Lack of sound.

Hi @RosaMazzitelli Thank you for sharing this with us and welcome to the community.  Great, how did you find it, were your pen pals based in the UK? You can share your experiences with other members on the blog on distributing letters.

    Hi @RosaMazzitelli
I have Auditory Processing Disorder, a listening disability, or the brain not being able to process what the ears hear. We have similar support requirements needing support using alternatives to sound based communication.
I have found the internet useful as I can join online groups and post replies in my own time as replies are not expected to be immediate as happens when others use sound based communication, such as speech.
I hope you find others who will become your penpals.
