hi can anyone advise, I was retired through I’ll health in March from NHS and only because I’m awaiting total knee replacement. I now have no income other than pip I’m thinking about applying for benefits through my NI contributions because I’m not old enough to get access to either my nhs pension nor state at 62 I do want to try returning to work after my rehab after my surgery in meantime what benefit can I apply for my husband works full time

Hi,New style ESA is based on NI Contributions in the previous 2 tax years. You'll need a fit/sick note from your GP and a SSP1 from from your employer to be able to claim this. It's paid for 365 days maximum unless you're placed into the Support Group and then it's paid for as long as you remain in that group.
