    Hi @Lucy411
    Great to meet you!
I work for Scope and live with CP. I'm from the Midlands too. Are you looking for a specific group?

Hi all, sorry I’ve taken so long to reply. I’ve been feeling very overwhelmed by things lately. I’ve somehow ended up not having many people to talk to and want to change that. Antonia thanks for the offer. I’m 33 and born with CP so I’m clued in, at least I hope so by now  ;) Nice to meet all of you.

    Hello @Lucy411

What are your interests/hobbies? There are lots of activities for disabled people out there. Your local council website should have more information on activities specifically for disabled folks- start by looking on there. Or, you can ask around and see if anyone can help point you in the right direction. Do you love dancing? Music? Literature?
If you are keen on acting, find out about drama clubs for disabled adults. I enjoy writing so I formed my own writing club solely for disabled people over 18 years of age. Good luck! It is a great way to meet other disabled people as well.

Alternatively you could volunteer. There are volunteering positions for disabled people too. Have a look online. See which ones are appropriate and start volunteering.

This website has details of where to begin searching.

Nice to meet you @Lucy411! I too have CP, how are you doing today?

Is there anything we can do to make you feel less overwhelmed? It's not a pleasant feeling.

    Hi April2018mom,

thanks, not sure I come under ‘young person’ under voluntary organisations anymore.

I already am part of a dance group and I love it but don’t really meet outside of the group, not for lack of me suggesting things. I also love going to the theatre and dogs. Tried to find volunteering or apprenticeships in both but without any luck. It disheartens me that many opportunities are for 25 and under. If I was self sufficient I’d travel and meet people that way.

Congrats on setting up the writing group, sounds interesting.

    Hi Chloe,

Nice to meet you. I honestly have no idea. I want to volunteer doing something that I love that could maybe turn into a job. I only have one PA at the moment and have always felt trapped by my need for assistance with all personal tasks. I’ve always needed to feel useful. If you know of any opportunities please let me know.

    Hi @Lucy411
I used to volunteer and I really enjoyed it. Have you considered volunteering in your local Scope shop?

Have you considered university of the third age or not @Lucy411?

This is a international movement for retired folks who need simulation mentally and physically too. You can find more information on their website https://www.u3a.org.uk

It is a great way to meet new people and learn a new skill at the same time! Chances are you will find something that catches your interest, given the number of groups across all areas of the UK. There are even activity groups you can join. It costs £12 to become a member.
