So I've just been awarded carers allowance and I'll be getting a backdate from the 14th January, will universal credit take the entire lot before it gets to my bank as Universal Credit give me carers element, this is for anybody that fully understands the concept of UC.

Hi,As you were already claiming UC then you won't receive any backdated carers allowance money because it's classed as income £1 for £1 when calculating any entitlement to UC. If the carers element wasn't added to your UC from 14th January then it maybe possible to get that backdated.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
