Hi,What benefits does the person you want to claim carers allowance for claim?Do you claim the LCWRA element of UC in with your monthly payment?I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

Hi @lubby123.
How did your PIP appeal go?
Carers Allowance is separate to UC so if you’re eligible (caring for someone in receipt of a relevant benefit and you’re not in the LCWRA group) you can claim both benefits.
However Carers Allowance is an overlapping benefit so is deducted £ for £ from Universal Credit. You would then have the Carers Element added on to your UC.
You can get Carers Element of UC without Carers Allowance.
Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any other questions.
