Do I need to give p45 to my employer or will hmrc update them?

Hi everyone. I claimed esa during my cancer treatment. My employer still paid me so my tax code went down to take into account the extra income. My claim has now stopped and dwp have supplied me with a p45. Do I need to give this to my employer or will hmrc update them? Thank you
