Hi I am having major issues with universal credit, I have lost my full time job as a support worker with people with learning difficulties this year, due to collapsing at work in severe agony when I tried to bend down to secure a wheelchair in the back of a minibus..After many trips to A&E I was finally told I had a fracture in my spine, I lost my job due to not being able to carry out my duties, hoists etc. Roll on a few months I get Industrial injuries benefit, I was till getting paid by my company up to my being let go on medically unfit to do job.I am still in pain and also found out the reason I could not bend down was I have had a massive fibroid found in my uterus measuring 7x6x6 cm, which also causes lots of other problems, urine infections, back pain, to name just a couple.I am waiting for a full hysterectomy in next 2 to 3 months. My doctor has been signing fit notes as they are called, from way back last December since I last worked..However since I have been on universal credit they told me after my health assessment I no longer need to send fit notes in and I am deemed fit to work up to 16hrs a week and I must apply for work and accept work straight away if offered it. I don't know what employer will want to employ someone who is abut to have at least 6 to 8 weeks off to recover from a full hysterectomy, let alone someone who has a back fracture and cant walk, stand sit, in same position for more than 5 minutes at a time. OH but I could lift both my arms.  above my head, so I must be able to work. I have made to feel like I am lying despite showing them evidence from specialists.I  am in the process of appealing at present, but still made to feel I am lying. I have worked all my life and have had my life turned upside down, I will never be able to do the job I love again, as even after operation my back will still be to weak, Very uset I am being treated in this way, when every day is a struggle.

Welcome to the community @sharonandFreddie22. Sorry to hear you're in such a difficult situation. Have you asked for a Mandatory Reconsideration after your health assessment?

    Hello @sharonandFreddie22       :)

    Hello My Name is Connie00

I am one off the community Champion’s here at Scope.  it’s really nice to meet you.

A very warm welcome to the Community.

Oh my fiend I have much sympathy and empathy for people like yourself, as a carer for my Nephew who has sever Learning Disabilities, I know how important you support worker are to both the clients and their families. you had a very important yet rewarding job, let’s say by the service users, and not your employers,

Of course, you must ask for a mandatory reconsideration, this is so not fair, they can’t be allowed to get away with this. I don’t know anything about UC but I do know that if you are struggling

You can get help or another organisation to guide you through take a look at the link I have sent to you

    https://www.scope.org.uk/advice-and-support/universal-credit/#Sanctions

look for Consent and representatives I am hoping this will help you.  I am hoping its not to late, It seems so unfair that you have done damage to yourself while helping those less fortunate, only to end up with a disability yourself.

If we can be of any assistance to you please don’t hesitate to contact us

    Have a good day

It's showing us that it is a dog, is this what it is meant to be @Smudger?

@Chloe_Scope hi. Yes it is my dog but not the picture I wanted. I would have liked to put a photo of myself. I am having problems changing it to another photo.
