Hi,They are 3 completely different things. An appointee is for benefit purposes only.Lasting power of attorney can only be set up if your daughter has mental capacity.Deputyship can only be set up for someone who has lost capacity to care for and make decisions for their self. This can only be set up if your daughter has been assessed as lacking capacity. https://www.medicalprotection.org/uk/articles/assessing-capacity
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -
They are different things.
1-An appointee is only for benefit purposes.
2- An LPA can only be set up if it can be proved beyond reasonable doubt your daughter has full mental capacity.
3-Deputyship is for those who lack the ability to decide for themselves. This can only be set up if it is pretty clear she does not show she has mental capacity. For more information take a look at this link https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/a-to-z/m/mental-capacity -
