First time here. I think I want to rant more than anything. My 9 year old has ASD. I applied for DLA for him and got refused. Appealed and got refused again based on a report from the school that they requested. I checked with the school and they have told me that no one has done a report, they didn't even get a request. It is only a small school and all the staff are brilliant, I know they would of backed me up. I have applied for a tribunal. The system is a joke. The extra money would help so much, I go through a lot of bedding and washing liquid, clothes (he chews and pulls clothes apart) and blu take (he fiddles with it). It's just so infuriating. They were provided with plenty of evidence. Thanks for reading.

I also initally got turned down too. Did you know that you can appeal their decision or not? The assessment report was awful to read. My son has open spina bifida. The extra money would enable me to purchase things he needs as well. It is a silly outdated system.

My son is at risk of a urinary tract infection. He was hospitalised last month with one that was really severe and required treatment. For nearly a week, he was in hospital unwell. Yet that is not enough. What is? Good luck! Keep us posted on the outcome.

The Tribunal has already been requested.....

@busymum666 You need to prove that your child needs more care and attention than that of a child the same age who doesn't have a disability.

The Tribunal are a lot more understanding the DWP the only issue is the waiting times for a hearing are very long in most areas. Hopefully you're not waiting as long as some people.

    Good luck.

I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

Hi @busymum666 and a warm welcome to the community! I'm sorry to hear that your son was not awarded DLA and I appreciate the strain that this can cause. I hope the tribunal goes smoothly for you both.

Here is some information about the process
