Hi, PIP claims are based on how a condition affects you, not just the names of diagnosed conditions.

Have a look at PIP self test for guidance. You can do your own testing and it doesn't go anywhere. I have tested myself with varying levels of ability to see how I might score.

Aids, appliances and help from people help towards your score.

You usually have to have a face 2 face assessment, where you will be scored.

If your score isn't what you expect, you can go for an MR...mandatory reconsideration and if that fails, you can go to tribunal.

@ becca20003, hello and welcome, PIP is a benefit to help you with your daily living activities and mobility issues in relation to the PIP descriptiors. It is not awarded on a diagnosis or illness or the amount of prescription drugs you are taking. Before you apply for pip take a self test to see if you would qualify for the benefit. To find out more about PIP and the descriptiors goggle PIP self test. PIP descriptiors and you will get all the information you need, to help you make the right decision to apply for pip or not.

Hi @becca20003 and a very warm welcome to the community. Here is some information about the PIP process: https://www.scope.org.uk/advice-and-support/benefits/personal-independence-payment/

Also please take on board what others have said about it not being about a diagnosis. If there’s anything we can help with then please do just ask. We’ve had a lot of people go through the process so have lots of experience on the site!  :)
