My 15 year old son is autistic and doing his GCSE's mocks exams this is very stressful for him and for me to see him like this. Anybody's child going through this same thing please I need help and guidance I feel so alone.  ????

Hi @Michelle80, I'm so sorry to hear this! GCSE's can be such a stressful time, even more so if you have a disability.

Is your son in a separate room? This may help to make it less stressful and can be done for the actual exams if this is shown to be beneficial.

Had a meeting with the man who is sure Reece is autistic.  Its was a very emotional meeting as he asked me questions how he was like in his early childhood.  As I was in the emotional and mental abuse relationship I was in a bubble.  So I didn't see all ???

You have no reason to feel guilty @Michelle80. It's not uncommon for children to mask autism and unless you know what you're looking for, it wouldn't necessarily have been obvious anyway. 

Will you be pursuing a diagnosis? How are you feeling today?

Hi Michelle,
Your son may have the invisible type of Autism called Asperger's. Check out Tony Attwood's excellent email or you tube videos. He is really positive and helpful. Do make an appointment at your school and do get a professional assessment so he can be allowed a private room, with a person who brings him water ( and biscuits) and they can allow a lap top if his writing is weak and also a person to read out questions if this is required. Stay positive! In Silicon Valley, California there are a lot of Asperger Children (sons and daughters of computer scientists and creatives) recent stats is1 in 68 are Autistic ! They are not mad or bad, just Autistic and wired differently. I have a teenage boy that was only recently diagnosed - we didn't know - just thought he was a bit eccentric!   Also buy or borrow Tony Attwoods wonderful books from your local library ....He is a wonderful advocate.
