Hello everyone, thought I would join the forum to gain more information due to me being carer to an Autistic son, and also give help with any issues that I have come across that may help other carers.

Hi my son has to pay for the social care funding he receives and wondered if any other carers are in the same boat, as this seems to be an awful lot of money he has to pay out every 4 weeks? also if there is a help line that I can call or email to gain more information regarding this large payment and how I can check he is being charged correctly? Can anyone help?
Thanks R

Hi and welcome,Has he had a needs assessment completed by his local council? If not then he can refer himself for this, once this is done if they agree to support him, they will assess his finances to see how much if anything he needs to pay towards his care. It can be funded by direct payments, or partly at least.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -
Welcome to the community @RJP, I hope Poppy has been able to help here. Is there anything you would like clarifying?
I appreciate that this cannot be easy, do you get much support?
Also, are you claiming carers allowance? Here is more information to see if you would be entitled to this.
Please do let us know how you get on.Scope
