Hi I need some advice. Daughter has Mitochondrial disease which presents that she can’t walk and has maybe mild learning difficulties. Split with wife in July and almost divorced. However despite attending every medical appointment since birth (and there’s been a lot) I’ve not been able to since the split as relations are quite tense. 

However I have accepted this untill things settle down but simply insisted that appointments are made aware to me and feedback is needed same day nothing too in depth but feedback.  Daughter is five and has told me numerous times she’s been at the hospital so have teachers. Whenever I request feedback from ex or her father I get told it’s on a “need to know basis, and I don’t need to know” I’ve always had huge fear of daughter needing a wheel chair this week I picked her up from school abd she told me she was getting a wheelchair. I asked if this was the case and was simply ignored. 

I now want to send a letter from my solicitor saying unless I get information and feedback from vital appointments then I’ll have no choice but to attend them myself (I do get details of upcoming appointments) 

my question is, we are married and I have full parental responsibility but does this mean I can attend appointments? Surely this is my right? It would be far easier if they simply informed me but they just ignore me. 

Any advice appreciated.

HI,

You're well within your rights to attend the appointments. You're also well within your rights to speak to your daughters Consultants and ask to be CC'd into all the letters that are sent to the GP. This way, when your daughter does have appointments, everything sent to her GP will be sent to you as well.

Hi @Betsykay19, this must be so difficult! As @poppy123456 has said, you are entitled to get all the letters, I hope this helps you to stay in the loop.
