Hello

I was wondering if anyone could advise on Career/Client Contributions. Since June this year i was contributing a little under £4.00 a week and recently i was asked to Contribute just under £24.00. According to the council's Financial Assessment Team.it is because i'm now on a higher rate ESA. I've been trying to find out if there is a national set rate for low, middle and high rate depending on which ESA rate you receive?

    Hi,

    They will have assessed your financial situation and taken into account the bills that you pay against the money you received and this is very likely different for all local councils. Some are more generous than others.

    Have you asked them to take into consideration any disability related expenses (DRE)? See link, its for last year but it's still exactly the same now.

    I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.

    Hi @reg28,

    You need to bear in mind that Disability Related Expenditure is discretionary and different councils take different amounts into account. There are guidelines, but that is what they are, guidelines.

    The rest of the assessment-the figures used to calculate what you need to contribute-is fixed and uses a Minimum Guaranteed Income which is the lowest amount the Council can leave you with. How they have done this will be on your local adult social services website.

    They take into account what you have coming in and what u have going out. Make sure you let them know about extra costs like extra laundry, extra electric for equipment being plugged in . Tell them every little thing. Right now my bro pays just over £150 a month for 3 calls a day.
