Hi all,

my pip was awarded to me in July 2017 for 3 years therefore I would need reassessment etc in July 2020. I have progressive copd diabetes and many more health issues that haven’t changed since my first assessment were I was awarded enhanced parts for both sections .i applied for the Motability scheme in September and was turned down because I did not have the twelve months remaining on my pip so I applied for an extension and was perfectly ok to be reassessed as my conditions have got worse . I provided all the medical information I have and it consisted of references from many different doctors .

The point I’m trying to make is that this was in September and it is now nearly February I have waited 17 weeks for a decision and haven’t had no news since sending the how my disability affects me form off . Is this normally a  17 week+ long process  ? I only need an extension or could have my assessment pushed forward.  I’m starting to become impatient because i feel like I’ve been completely left in the dark and my money is constantly being spent on taxis as I’m unable to walk to my gate without becoming breathless. Can anyone help?

    HI and welcome,

I'm one of the community champions here on scope and i'm here to help and advise others.

There's no timescales, backlogs are just part of the reason a decision can be delayed. You should expect another face to face assessment because most people have them. Even though you applied for an extension of your award the process will still be the same.

Unfortunately, all you can do is wait. Hopefully not too much longer.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
